I like Mexican food in general but was severally disappointed in the type of Mexican food that was served here in Texas. The reason for my disappointment was that Mexican food on the West Coast is different then it is here in Texas.

There is a reason that Mexican food here in Texas is called Tex Mex – it’s different. After several months of not having an Mexican food my wife and went to try some Tex Mex with a different mindset – we are trying something new so don’t expect it taste like West Coast Mexican food. With that mindset we loved it and frequent several Tex Mex places in the area.

Back to Que Pasa…

We stumbled upon Que Pasa about 6 months ago when El Arroyo closed near the Baskin Robbins off of Highway 79. We decided to try. From the first day we were impressed. It was West Coast style Mexican food and was great.

I have tried several things on their menu but usually go for their Flautas (made with corn tortillas as opposed to flour). Some times I will opt for a crispy shredded beef taco and/or an enchilada. Their fajitas are good as well. Another thing that I really like about Que Pasa are the prices, they are really affordable.

Some people here in Texas may not like Que Pasa because their food is not traditional Tex Max and that is understandable. I think if they would go there with an open mind, like we did to Tex Mex restaurants here in Texas, then I think that they would be pleasantly surprised.

Carl’s Jr started way back in the 40′s in Southern California as a hot dog cart and has been growing nationally ever since. Having grown up in So Cal myself I frequented Carl’s for the Western Bacon Cheese Burger. This hamburger consists of a flame broiled patty, cheese, bacon, onion rings, and BBQ sauce. It is truly a unique burger that I missed when moving to Texas.

Today I went to Car’ls Jr in Cedar Park to relive my days Western Bacon Cheese Burger delight and I was not disappointed. The burger was great. It seems that they have upgrade to a new style of french fries that are the “natural cut” fries which were quite tasty.

The only drawback to the Cedar Park location is that the seating is limited. I was lucky to get a seat even though I got there before the lunch rush. As I was finishing there were people with food but without a seat. They do have room to add tables outside and I would highly recommend it.

In talking with the server that took my order Carl’s is planning on adding 15 more locations in the area. The sever also said that their was another Carl’s Jr in the southern part of Austin but was not sure of the exact location.

All-in-all it was a good experience and I am happy to have another creature comfort from my days in California. Now all we need in In & Out Burger here in Texas!

I like Edward Norton so the fact that he and Liv Taylor where in it already caused it to score points with me. It was basically the same story as the last Hulk movie but I felt that they did a much better job with this one. As good as it was though I still like Iron Man the best.

At the end of The Hulk Robert Downey Jr walks in as the same character he played in Iron Man and tells the General that he is putting a little "team" together and is wondering if he is interested. Even if the General isn’t interested I sure am. I think it is a brilliant marketing ploy to link all of these movies together. They will be able to have their own individual adventures while having movies together as well. I am sure we will see several cameos in the individual character’s films which I think is cool.

Anyway, I have not see anything "Official" around the web but I am sure it won’t be long before it gains traction.

It was a pretty cool song that had very military sounding lyrics. The lyrics mentioned things like "Camouflage and guns, risk my life to keep my people from harm" and "Through this doorway, what’s on the other side, never knowing what i will find, locked and loaded voices screaming Let’s Go!". It is a pretty intense song which reminds me of our military personnel in other lands who are in harm’s way.

Anyway today the entire album was released and I purchased it hoping that the rest of the album would be as cool and intense as Hammerhead. I was really surprised at the fact that the rest of the album is pretty mellow except the last song Rise and Fall. In fact the album is the most mellow album that I have heard them make. I have two other albums from them and they are pretty intense. Honestly, I am not sure if I like it or not.

Oh well, I have paid the money for it so I will listen to it for a few more times and see if it grows on me. I guess this just isn’t what I expected.

Now I had never followed Iron Man in the comic book or had even seen very many of the previews. I like the majority of the comic book to big screen movies they have been doing lately so i hoped that this one would be good.

Not only was it the best comic book to big screen movies I have seen it is one of my all-time favorites!

There are many reason why I like this movie so much. Here are few:

  1. The Wit – I love the wit in the movie. Robert Downey Jr does any excellent job of being conceited but charming at the same time. He is a bad boy who knows his stuff and believes and can do anything.
  2. The Plot – A great story line. It never felt slow, predictable, or confusing. It had me thinking that certain things may happen but then other things did. It was a real story and was very blatant about the fact that there will be a sequel.
  3. The Action – Great action. Not the same shoot’em up in every scene but different things happening at different times. Great interaction with modern-day military hardware.
  4. The Special Effects – Seamless. The computer animation was completely awesome. There are scenes now where they looked completely real but it is possible that they were entirely computer animated.
  5. The Suit – The suit is bad-ass. It is not only functional but has some style to it.

I will definitely be buying this DVD when it comes out and am looking forward to the sequel when it comes out.
